Visit the mill complex, which includes a working water mill dating back to 1728, a dwelling house reconstructed in the 1920s and a barn with a bread oven. Discover a unique and exceptional heritage site, with a scenographic tour retracing the great and small stories of milling.
In the company of Pompon, the miller's cat, meet the baker, the miller and his assistant.
From the barn to the engine room, from the mill to the dwelling house, you'll enter these living spaces, brought to life with sound and visual effects (video, mapping, projection). The furnishings are authentic reconstructions in the spirit of the period, using objects and furnishings mostly supplied by residents of Nieul-sur-l'Autise.
This staging allows you to experience the living conditions and activities of the period as if you were there. Panels complement the sound effects and provide additional technical and/or historical information.
Opening hours
From March 22 to May 31, 2024: open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Closed on Saturdays and Mondays.
June 1 to August 31, 2024: open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
September 1 to November 3, 2024: open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Closed on Saturdays and Mondays.
Annual closure from November 4, 2024 to March 21, 2025.

Motor disability
Facilities have been provided to facilitate visits by people with reduced mobility (ramp, door, pathway). Please note that wheelchair users will need a person to push in some areas.

Mill House
La Maison de la Meunerie is located in the Vendée on the edge of the Marais Poitevin Regional Nature Park, 1 hour from La Rochelle. It has been awarded the Qualité Tourisme (Quality Tourism) label since 2019 and the Valeurs Parc Naturel Régional (Regional Nature Park Values) label.
