To visit the interior of the tower, go to the Vouvant Tourist Information Office and pick up the precious sesame (key hire).
You are entering a monument which, according to legend, was built by the fairy Mélusine. She built it in one night from "three dornées de pierres et d'une goulée d'Ève" (three stone-filled aprons and a gulp of water).
Dating from the late XIIᵉ-early XIIIᵉ century, this 36-meter-high keep is circular. Inside, discover 2 domed vaulted rooms and enjoy, from its summit, an incredible panoramic view of the medieval city, the Mother River and the forest!
Opening period
The Mélusine Tower is open to visitors from 29 March to 3 November 2024, during the opening hours of the Vouvant Tourist Office (closed on Mondays).
