The Bernard d'Agesci Museum is the result of the conversion of the former Jean Macé girls' high school, built by Niort architect Georges Lasseron at the end of the 19th century, into a museum.
A room on the 1st floor of the museum is dedicated to Bernanrd d'Agesci. Born in Niort in 1756, painter and sculptor Bernard d'Agesci, whose real name was Jean-Charles-Henri-Augustin Bernard, was also an architect, landscape architect, drawing teacher and town councillor from 1816 to 1829. Throughout his life, he put his skills and talent at the service of the municipal and departmental administrations.
